When you are learning a new language…. have you noticed that some words sounds like your native language, but completely different meaning?
It was “Ske”. Ske means “happens” in Danish, but it really sounds like SUKI – pronounce like SKE, but means “Like” in Japanese.
When teacher asked me that question, I automatically translated to “What do you like?”
I like Udon.
All the classrooms and teacher had huge questions marks above the their head, “what the hell is this Japanese woman talking about?!?!?!”
aah. embarrassing memory.
I have more stories like that, I will be sharing with you soon.
